6000 ㎡ Large Dome Concert Lighting | Non Destructive PVC Does Not Damage The Original Building Structure

Leave a message

Large temporary dome venues and PVC flexible membrane structure building lighting have long been recognized as industry installation challenges in the field of outdoor performing arts and temporary venues. The core pain points are concentrated in four core limitations: no drilling, no damage to the original tent main structure, extremely difficult construction of high-altitude curved surfaces, generally tight project schedules, and no mature standardized landing solutions. The Dead Sea Project's large-scale 6000 square meter dome concert project had no lighting installation ideas in the early stage, and multiple consultations with industry service providers did not obtain feasible solutions. SHLED intervened from scratch throughout the entire process, relying on independent mold customization of exclusive lighting fixtures and a complete non-destructive fixing technology system to achieve a perfect dynamic lighting effect on the entire dome sky. The original PVC tent structure was 100% protected throughout the process, creating a benchmark level large-scale temporary membrane structure venue lighting technology model in the industry.

Concert dome lighting

Project Overview&Core Technical Difficulties

This project is a dedicated venue for the Dead Sea Project indoor large-scale performing arts concert. The overall construction is a super large span curved PVC flexible film structure dome tent covering an area of about 6000 square meters, which is exclusively designed to undertake commercial concerts, large-scale performing arts events, brand special events and other scenes. The core requirement for lighting is to achieve a dynamic grid screen lighting effect for the entire dome starry sky, taking into account visual shock and adaptability to live performances.
In the early stages of the project, the client had multiple connections with industry resources, but no institution was able to provide a complete implementation path. The project has four major industry level core technical barriers, as follows:
1. Absolute material limitation of the main body: The dome is entirely made of PVC flexible tarpaulin film material. Party A explicitly requires strict prohibition of any destructive operations such as drilling, welding, anchoring, etc., and must not damage the original structure of the tent. Traditional lighting installation schemes such as steel frame fixation, expansion screw anchoring, and welding reinforcement cannot be applied.
2. Difficulties in curved surface structure: The venue has a large-span high-altitude curved dome surface, which is not a conventional flat building structure. The commonly used flat lighting fixtures on the market cannot fit the curvature of the surface, and after installation, they are prone to problems such as falling, falling off, lamp body deformation, and uneven distribution of light and shadow, making it difficult to achieve a unified starry sky lighting effect.
3. Strict safety performance requirements: The project is a concert venue with a high concentration of on-site personnel. All lighting fixtures are installed in large areas at high altitudes, and the requirements for wind load resistance, seismic stability, and anti drop safety factors far exceed those of ordinary lighting projects. Any risk of falling objects or equipment failure from high altitudes must be eliminated.
4. Strict requirements for construction period and reuse: As a temporary performing arts venue, the overall construction period is extremely tight, requiring rapid installation of lighting fixtures, rapid power on debugging, and rapid completion of acceptance; At the same time, convenient and non-destructive disassembly is required in the later stage, and the lighting fixtures and accessories can be recycled and reused to adapt to the temporary venue turnover characteristics.
In the face of the three no's dilemma of customers having no solutions, no ideas, and no landing path, SHLED Shenghong Optoelectronics provides a one-stop technical solution for the entire process, covering product mold design, specialized fixed technology research and development, product scale production, on-site standardized installation, system integration and acceptance, and providing one-stop delivery throughout the entire process

SHLED customized technology solution

In response to the four major industry level pain points of this project, SHLED has completely abandoned all commonly used finished lighting fixtures on the market, refused to apply conventional lighting processes, and independently developed a complete set of grid point light source lighting systems through special mold making. At the same time, a PVC dome exclusive non-destructive fixing technology system has been created, from lamp structure design, special connector research and development, customized fixed base production to standardized installation processes, achieving original customization throughout the entire chain and completely solving the problem of lighting installation for large flexible film dome structures from the root.

2.1 Technical Design Description of Independent Mold Opening and Flexible Mesh Screen Lighting System

Combining the unique curved surface structure characteristics of the dome, SHLED has specially designed an integrated flexible grid screen lighting fixture, completely abandoning the conventional hard lamp body structure. The core technical design highlights are as follows:
●The lamp body adopts a flexible and bendable grid structure, which can perfectly fit any curvature of the dome. After installation, there are no sharp edges, no falling or offset, and no deformation of the lamp body. It conforms to the curved surface of the canopy film throughout the process, ensuring the overall smoothness of the lighting.
●Adopting standardized grid spacing design, the entire dome module can uniformly present the dynamic lighting effect of the starry sky after splicing, without blind spots or light and shadow gaps, adapting to the lighting switching needs of various performing arts scenes in concert venues.
●Fully waterproof and sealed electrical design, with a protection level that meets the standards of outdoor performance venues. It meets the 24-hour high brightness, dynamic and stable operation requirements, and is not afraid of changes in temperature and humidity inside the venue, eliminating electrical faults and hidden dangers.
●Modular factory prefabrication, all grid lighting fixtures undergo power on testing, waterproof testing, and synchronized lighting debugging in advance in the factory, achieving instant installation and use, instant connection and lighting on site, greatly reducing on-site construction time and perfectly adapting to the tight schedule requirements of temporary venues.
2.2 Industry Pioneer - Core Technology for Non Destructive Fixation of PVC Tent

LED grid screen
In response to the core requirement of non destructibility of PVC flexible film material, SHLED has designed a three-level non-destructive fixed structure system, which fully adapts to the characteristics of flexible canopy film material, with zero damage, high stability, and high safety throughout the process. The core structural logic is as follows:
1. First level flexible strip fixation: The lamp body is firmly fixed on the customized special flexible strip, relying on the balanced force characteristics of the strip to ensure that the entire grid lamp is flat and evenly stressed. During the dynamic light switching process, there is no lamp body displacement or image deformation, ensuring the integrity of the starry sky effect.
2. Secondary enlarged base disperses stress: The flexible card strip integrates a circular fixed disc base with a larger diameter under it, greatly expanding the contact area with the PVC tarpaulin, evenly dispersing the overall weight of the lamp, completely avoiding problems such as damage and depression of the canopy film caused by excessive local stress, and comprehensively protecting the structure of the tent.
3. Third grade special adhesive curing bonding: Inject SHLED special fast drying high-strength structural adhesive into the fixed disc, directly stick it to the inner wall surface of the PVC tent, and quickly cure it into shape. The bonding strength meets the high-altitude safety standards, and it is wind resistant, earthquake resistant, and shake resistant. There is no risk of detachment during long-term use.
Core advantage: The entire process achieves zero punching, zero welding, zero anchor bolts, and zero damage to the original PVC tent main structure, 100% meeting the strict requirements of Party A's building protection, completely breaking the destructive limitations of traditional lighting installation.

2.3 Key points of standardized professional installation and construction technology
To ensure the efficient implementation, quality compliance, safety and controllability of the project, SHLED has developed a complete set of standardized installation and construction processes, with standardized control at every step. The specific technical points are as follows:
-Preliminary on-site investigation: arrange a professional technical team to visit and accurately measure the curvature, overall size, and PVC film material characteristics of the dome. Based on the measured data, customize the corresponding specifications of the molded product to eliminate size deviation and insufficient adaptability.
-Factory prefabricated full inspection production: After the complete grid lighting module is produced on a large scale in the factory, it is tested one by one for power on lighting, waterproof sealing, and load-bearing tensile strength. Only qualified products can leave the factory to avoid on-site failures from the source.
-High altitude non-destructive standard installation: The high-altitude construction process strictly follows non-destructive technology, with the fixed disc injected with specialized fast drying structural adhesive, accurately adhering to the PVC inner wall for rapid curing and bonding, without any destructive operations throughout the process, and the canopy film status is monitored throughout the construction process.
-Concealed and orderly wiring: All electrical circuits are concealed along the dome structure, with proper wiring fixation and protection. The appearance is neat and beautiful, without exposed and disorderly lines, which does not affect the overall visual effect of the venue and meets the aesthetic standards of large performing arts venues.
-Completed system linkage debugging: After installation, carry out synchronous control debugging of the entire dome grid screen to achieve various performance lighting effects such as starry sky gradient, dynamic flowing light, shooting stars passing by, and nebula changes. The lighting switching is smooth and the synchronization meets the standard.
-Full safety acceptance testing: After completion, a comprehensive safety acceptance will be carried out, including lamp tensile testing, overall stability testing, long-term electrical aging testing, wind and seismic simulation testing, to ensure safe and stable operation during the concert without any safety hazards.
